Jensen Huang, CEO of American technology company Nvidia, has warned that artificial intelligence (AI) will rapidly replace workers. He also warned that AI will soon affect every job. The debate about AI and jobs is now getting serious.
Speaking at this year’s Milken Institute Global Conference, Huang said that AI is reshaping the job market now, not in the distant future. According to him, AI can help solve the growing talent shortage worldwide and put 30 to 40 million people back into the workforce.
He argues that AI tools such as generative models will increase productivity, accelerate global GDP and create new jobs across industries. In his words, “I advise everyone to take advantage of AI 100 percent. Let’s not be the ones who ignore this technology and lose their jobs as a result.”
What types of jobs are AI affecting more than others?
AI is transforming all industries. But some sectors are feeling the pressure more quickly than others. Software engineering is one such sector. Many developers are seeing automated tools replace previously manual coding tasks. Fortune magazine interviewed a former software engineer who applied for 800 jobs but couldn’t land a new one.
Some tech figures disagree with AI’s doomsday predictions. Billionaire Mark Cuban says new technology will always change the job landscape. He believes AI, like other innovations in the past, will create new industries and new roles.
The message from tech leaders like Huang is clear: Learn AI, use AI, or risk being left behind. Some jobs may disappear, but many new ones will evolve. In particular, workers who are skilled in AI tools will be in high demand.
It’s not just about tech jobs. From marketing to finance, from healthcare to education, AI is already having an impact on workflows. Skill development is the key. Online platforms are now offering courses like prompt engineering, data analysis, AI-assisted design.
