'Sunwayians' Innovation Fest 2026' Concludes Successfully, Emphasizing Building Nepal's Future Through AI, Robotics, and Innovation

'Sunwayians' Innovation Fest 2026,' organized with the objective of promoting Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, drone technology, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, concluded successfully at Anupam Foodland, Battisputali, Kathmandu.

The festival featured a wide range of technical sessions, workshops, panel discussions, competitions, exhibitions, and student innovation showcases related to AI, robotics, drone technology, research, innovation, and career development. Participants had the opportunity to observe cutting-edge technologies firsthand and gain practical experience through interactive activities.

Special sessions including the Robotics and Drone Workshop, Vibe Coding Workshop and Competition, AI in Journalism, AI for Productivity, and the AI Talk Series enabled experts to exchange insights into the opportunities and challenges of applying AI in journalism, healthcare, education, industry, intellectual property, data privacy, and everyday life.

As part of the festival, a Career Expo and Mock Interview Sessions were conducted with the participation of more than 30 industries and organizations. Student participants attended live interviews with human resource professionals from various companies, gaining valuable experience regarding employment opportunities, career planning, and professional preparation.

Similarly, more than 15 community partners collaborated in organizing various activities connecting innovation, technology, startups, and the student community. A dedicated Gaming Zone was also set up during the festival, providing participants with an engaging blend of technology and entertainment.

A special panel discussion on "Nepal in the Era of Physical AI" featured former National Planning Commission member Prof. Dr. Sudan Jha, Kathmandu University School of Engineering Associate Dean Dr. Bal Krishna Bal, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Advisor Sanjay Paudel, Body and Data CEO Dr. Dovan Rai, and University of Colorado Research Fellow Dr. Niraj Pudasaini. The panelists shared their perspectives on AI development, policy, research, cybersecurity, data privacy, and collaboration between academia and industry in Nepal.

During the festival, Yantra Xcel delivered a special presentation highlighting Nepal's potential in robotics and Physical AI, along with emerging international opportunities. The festival also featured various technology exhibitions, interactive demonstrations, food stalls, photo booths, and other entertainment activities related to AI, robotics, and innovation.

Outstanding teams in the competitions received special awards and incentive packages from various organizations. Ncell provided unlimited data and voice packages to the top three winning teams. Khalti awarded a special package worth NPR 5,000 to each of 11 teams, while Yeti Cloud.ai provided 11 teams with six months of free AI cloud hosting services.

The event, organized by Sunway College, witnessed remarkable participation from distinguished personalities involved in policymaking, education, technology, industry, research, and innovation, along with students, professors, entrepreneurs, startup representatives, and technology enthusiasts.

According to the organizers, the primary objective of the festival was to bring together students, researchers, industry leaders, and technology experts on a single platform to promote knowledge sharing, skill development, collaboration, and a culture of innovation, while also providing practical exposure to AI and emerging technologies.

While inaugurating the event, Sunway College Principal Khushal Regmi stated that innovation begins with the mindset of identifying problems and finding solutions. He emphasized that education should not be limited to using new technologies but should become the foundation for creating technology.

Chief Guest and former Minister Ganesh Shah stated that developing a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in Nepal is the need of the hour and urged young people to move forward with a vision of creating opportunities.
