Bandana Sharma, who has made significant contributions in the information technology sector, has been awarded this year’s ‘Ncell Woman Icon ICT Award’. She was honored with this award at the recently concluded grand finale of the ICT Award 2024.
Chief Minister of Karnali Province Yamlal Kadel and Ncell’s Corporate Communication and CSR Head Vishakha Laxmi Khadka jointly presented the ‘Ncell Woman Icon ICT Award 2024’ to Sharma. Sharma, who works as the Head of the Card and Digital Banking Division of Nepal Bank, has also received a cash prize of Rs 300,000 along with this award.
This award is given to women who have made significant contributions to the development of the information technology sector in Nepal by working in this sector. ICT Award and Ncell have been collaborating for the past five years to honor and encourage women active in the information technology sector. This year's Ncell Woman Icon ICT Award winner, Sharma, has been working in the information technology sector for 18 years.
This year's Ncell Woman Icon ICT Award winner, Sharma joined Nepal Bank in 2006 as an IT Support Officer. Involved in the digitalization of Nepal Bank since its inception, she has played a very important role in developing the bank's digital infrastructure and services, including core banking systems, network security, and cyber security, and making them customer-friendly.
Sharma, who studied BCA from Pokhara University, has also studied Masters in Information Technology, Network & E-Business, and MBA. Sharma is also a member of the CAN Federation, Women in IT, and the Uni Professional Management Committee, sharing her experience. She has also contributed to financial inclusion and STEM education.
Previously, Sunaina Ghimire Pandey in 2023, Sheila Kansakar Karki in 2022, Gunakeshari Pradhan in 2021, and Timila Yami in 2020 were honored with the 'Ncell Woman Icon ICT Award'.
Apart from this award, Ncell Foundation has undertaken various activities in the field of information technology, especially in education, bridging the digital divide, and promoting cybersecurity and digital literacy.
