A video is going viral on social media, claiming that Hari Dhakal, leader of the National Independent Party (NISP) and newly elected MP from Chitwan-1, is reluctant to accept Balendra Shah (Balen) as the Prime Minister. The video has gone viral on social media after the direct and proportional vote counting of the House of Representatives elections has been completed and the NISP has already secured a majority.
Research by Tekpana Fact Check Desk has found that the viral video dates back to before the unification of NISP and BAlen. It has been confirmed that the interview, which was taken last December when Rabi Lamichhane and BAlen were in talks, was presented in a misleading manner at a time when preparations were currently underway to form an elected government.
The Facebook page ‘Nepalese Diaspora’ was found to have made the same video public, claiming that NISP leader Hari Dhakal had shown signs that he would not accept BAlen as the Prime Minister. The video, titled "Ultimately, National Assembly leader Hari Dhakal hints at not letting Balen become prime minister," was made public at 6:19 pm on March 11.
