Internet service industry facing foreign currency payment problem in Nepal - CAN Federation

The Computer Association Nepal Federation has drawn the attention of the government to arrange a dollar equivalent for the payment of the amount to be paid to the Indian company for introducing internet bandwidth in Nepal. The service provider has not been able to pay for ten months due to lack of proper permission.

According to the service provider, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has not recommended the same despite repeated requests from the upstream provider for cutting.The federation said, "Despite repeated requests from the upstream provider for payment, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology did not recommend the foreign exchange rate, so internet service businessmen have been hit."

According to the federation, the impact of the payment problem is on the general consumer and the economy as a whole. The federation has also suggested that the dispute between the ministry and the Internet service provider regarding the royalty and rural telecommunication development fund dues be resolved through mutual discussion.
