Apple this week unveiled its most affordable laptop, the MacBook Neo. Starting at $599, the laptop is a new affordable option in Apple's product line.
The company's other laptops, the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, are known for their lightweight and high-performance devices, respectively. But the MacBook Neo is said to be mainly aimed at providing laptops at affordable prices for ordinary users.
In terms of design, the MacBook Neo is said to not look like a budget laptop. This laptop, which comes with a colorful aluminum body, weighs about 2.7 pounds, which is the same as the MacBook Air. It has a 13-inch screen, which is claimed to provide a brighter and more colorful display than other relatively cheap laptops.
In terms of sound quality, the MacBook Neo is also said to outperform other laptops of the same price. Its speakers are said to provide clear dialogue and a detailed sound experience when playing movie trailers.
It has two USB-C ports for connectivity. It also includes a headphone jack, but it doesn't have the MagSafe charging port found on some of Apple's other laptops.
Based on the specs, the base model for $599 will come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The $699 model will add 512GB of storage and Touch ID, but will still have 8GB of RAM.
According to analysts, the MacBook Neo could be Apple's most affordable laptop, making it a gateway to macOS for many users. It is also expected to be useful as an alternative to Chromebooks, especially for schools and educational institutions.
