Albania's AI Minister 'Deela' is pregnant, 83 'children' are being born

Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced that the country’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Minister, Deela, is ‘pregnant’. Rama announced at the Global Dialogue event in Berlin that Deela will give birth to 83 children. Deela will have ‘83 children’ — who will act as personal digital assistants for each MP from the ruling Socialist Party.

According to the prime minister, the AI children will record all activities and discussions in parliament and inform MPs about the issues they have missed. “Each child will be an assistant to an MP, who will attend parliamentary sessions, record everything and make suggestions. These children will bring their mother’s knowledge,” he added.

According to Rama, the system is aimed to be fully operational by the end of 2026. He added, jokingly, “If you go out for coffee and forget to come back, that child will tell you what was said in your absence and who you have to answer to.”

Dela (meaning sun in Albanian) was appointed as AI Minister last September. She has been tasked with making Albania’s public procurement system fully transparent and corruption-free. Dela was initially launched in January this year as a virtual assistant on the e-Albania platform. She has been helping citizens and businesses obtain government documents.

According to Rama, all decisions regarding public procurement will now be made by Deela, which will make every government expenditure and tender process 100 percent transparent. AI Minister Deela is pictured wearing traditional Albanian attire, which also represents the country’s cultural identity.
