15 news portals that copied the news have been taken into action by the Press Council. The Regulatory Council has taken action as it was found that News Agency Nepal had stolen the news and republished it on its online portal.
The council has written to the Nepal Telecommunication Authority to ban these online portals from being transmitted within Nepal. The council has mentioned that the 15 web portals subject to action are not registered and listed according to the rules.
"The content transmitted from the said web portals has been tampered with and the journalist code of conduct appears to be inimical, and as the said web portals have not been registered and listed as per the rules, there is a request according to the decision to prevent transmission within Nepal until further arrangements are made," the letter sent by the Press Council to the Telecommunication Authority reads.
