Nawaraj Kunwar honored to the Associo ICT Award

Nawaraj Kunwar, who has been dedicated to the Information Technology (IT) sector of Nepal for almost three decades, has received the prestigious Association Award. This award was given to Kunwar at the Digital Summit organized by the ASEAN-ASEAN Computing Industry Association (ASSOCIO) on November 6-8 in Tokyo, Japan.

The association gives this honor to a person who has made a special contribution to information technology. General Secretary of CAN Federation Chiranjeevi Adhikari informed that Kunwar received the prestigious award for his tireless efforts, vision and leadership to bring digital transformation to rural areas in Nepal.

Kunwar Yatra has been active in the field of information technology since 1995. He started his work with the goal of expanding the influence of information technology, which was only within the boundaries of Kathmandu, to the entire country. Under this, through the Computer Association of Nepal (CAN), he continuously worked to provide access to information technology in rural areas.

He played an important role in expanding Kunwarle Can Federation to 77 districts as well as seven provinces. This initiative has helped connect millions of Nepalis with digital education. Under the leadership of CAN, he organized various trainings, programs and workshops to provide digital skills to the youth of rural areas.

Kunwar has also made significant contributions beyond the national borders. As the Vice President of Associo, he played an important role in keeping the IT sector stable by running virtual events during the Covid-19 pandemic. This initiative helped to maintain continuity in the IT sector even during the pandemic and exposed his leadership skills.

Kunwar is working on various plans to establish Nepal as a global IT hub. He has taken the initiative to organize the first full meeting of the association in Nepal. He is conducting various projects in rural areas in collaboration with the private sector and local bodies. This has made access to information technology easy and sustainable in the rural areas of Nepal.
